Applicable standards:

  • AWS A5.20/ ASME SFA5.20:
  • E71T -1C/1M

Features and applications:

  • W71T - VD is a flux-cored welding wire that can be welded in any position with CO2 shielding gas . W71T - VD is commonly used in automatic and semi - automatic welding of high - strength low - carbon steel with a tensile strength of 490-670 MPa .
  • This welding material is widely used in steel structures , pressure vessels , bridge structures , ships , maintenance and repair ,  etc.
  • The weld has good penetration , high ductility , and  good pressure resistance .
  • Compared to solid welding wire , flux - cored welding wire produces less spatter , a more stable arc , a cleaner weld bead and surface finish , and less smoke . The flux in the core contributes to improved metallurgical properties and mechanical properties of the weld . The slag cools quickly and is easily removed .
  • Manufactured in Vietnam or China.

Instructions for use:

  • Clean off grease and rust before welding .
  • The weld edges are processed according to specifications .
  • Choose the appropriate welding current and voltage to avoid defects .
  • Maintain a distance of 15-25mm between the workpiece and the soldering iron
  • The protective gas should be 100 % CO2 ( 18-20 liters / minute) .
  • Ventilate the welding booth to prevent suffocation from CO2 gas .
  • Depending on the purpose , choose the appropriate welding process to ensure a beautiful , smooth weld with good penetration .
  • Preheating ( 50 ~ 150° C ) ( 122 ~ 302 ° F ) and allowing it to cool after each pass before welding again is recommended to release hydrogen , which can cause weld cracking when welding thick plates .
  • Weld defects such as hot cracking can occur due to improper welding parameter adjustments , such as excessively high welding speeds .
